seastate du jour - 10/52 - 2021

I managed to jump in the sea at my local beach for a chilly sunrise. The forecast looked promising for a glorious sunrise; the alarm was set for 5:45am and the beans prepped for the early morning coffee. The morning brought an un-forecasted heavy low cloud, with a sliver of clear sky to the east - nearly a perfect recipe for vast and dramatic colours. The cloud window was small so I raced on my bike down the track towards the beach. I donned my wet gloves onto already cold hands. Thin ice sheets cracked underfoot as I jogged towards the sea and into the water. Unfortunately, I had missed the best of the short window of light. I made the most of the clouds bringing the only colour into the brown and white seas.

Fingers crossed for a ‘stay local’ update this week.
